WHAT IS A STEWARD?
Stewards are key communicators and builders in our union; they are there for their colleagues at the department level and act as the link between those members and the PSUFA Leadership. As a steward, your co-workers will count on you to carry workplace concerns to their elected representatives on the PSUFA Executive Council, and those representatives rely on your feedback to keep in touch with membership. A strong internal communication system is one of the pillars of an effective union--one that is democratic, inclusive, and able to mobilize.
Stewards are responsible for educating faculty and researchers in their department about their union, signing up new members, relaying information about union events, and providing contact and support to members at a departmental level.
PSUFA is always looking for members to join our steward structure. We have lots of resources and information to make your work easier. To find out more about being a steward contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
WHO IS THE STEWARD IN YOUR DEPARTMENT?
If you don't see your department listed, it's because no one has committed to being a steward there yet. If you are looking for more information contact one of our executive council members.
