PSUFA has announced that, earlier today, your bargaining team delivered a final package proposal to PSU admin.
We would have to declare an "impasse" in the next few days in order to strike by the end of the term. We have given management a package with a deadline that expires tomorrow at 9AM and if they don't accept the deal we may declare impasse and begin preparation toward striking during the last week of classes.
Just before midnight on Friday, PSUFA agreed to a package proposal from PSU that settled articles 6 (academic freedom), 16 (discipline), and 7 (union rights) and won adjuncts the ability to raise academic freedom as a defense in grievances related to discipline and termination. Your union fought tirelessly for this protection!
Today's package delivered by the PSUFA team is a complete contract proposal that includes the remaining articles related to our strike platform: pay, job security, and your benefits funds. These are critical articles, which management has dragged their feel on settling. Continuing to a build credible strike threat is crucial to reach our goal of a strong contract. To keep the pressure on management to accept this proposal, we may declare impasse this week so that we may strike by the end of the term if needed.
